PROLINER®
A world class measurement in the London tube
With 3.5 million journeys each weekday, over a billion journeys each year and demand set to rise even further, work to renew the world’s first metro is needed now more than ever. When metro’s running 19 to 20 hours a day, time to work in an empty metro station is slim. This means that all the work that has to be done needs to be done fast, precious en without errors as there is no time to correct them.
In 2006 Sorba Projects from Winterswijk in the Netherlands received the challenging order to measure all the curves in the round hallways of Oxford Circus Underground station in London. Sorba Projects turned this challenging project into a overwhelming success with the use of the Prodim Proliner®.
Sorba project accompanies projects in the construction sector of the design phase up to and including the execution/delivery phase. They have been specialised in in- and outside cladding, wooden skeleton construction, façades (fronts including glass and cladding), in- and outside finishing in cladding. (cladding generally in steel (aluminium, stainless steel, powder coated but also glass fibre concrete and glass fibre cladding).
At the Oxford Circus Underground station London project they used the Proliner® to its full advantage, its flexible easy way of use and mobility made sure they got the job done well in time. Its accuracy and instance digitalising made sure it all was without any errors, this of course is a huge extra advantage in comparison to the traditional hand made wooden templates.
Paul Schepers, Project Manager: “Thanks to the Proliner® we were able to digitally measure the existing under construction of these curves. The measurements were used to decide the taper panels (see pictures) and to finish it in production drawings. Later these panels were produced in Germany and installed in London by our London mechanics. To be honest, we wouldn’t have known how else to measure this problem (perhaps with wooden templates and then copy it, but probably very expensive, time-consuming and difficult because of the distance).”
Sorba Projects together with the Prodim Proliner® completed the job to full satisfaction of the client, they turned this project into a fast, accurate and cost savings order.
Concluding, without the Proliner® it is impossible to complete this task as no other machine can measure as fast and precious as the Prodim Proliner®.
The Prodim Proliner measures it all!
